Knowing the urgency of the plant, our technicians immediately on arrival undertook the inspection of the crankshaft of the Ingersoll Rand compressor and observed that only one no. crank pin having diameter of 260 mm was damaged.
All other parameters like hardness, crack detection, deflection of compressor crankshaft were found within limits.
The one no. crank pin developed the ovality and deep line marks and this was machined to the under size of 2 mm. The repairs were finished in a short time of 6 hours and 30 minutes only.
